Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
Writing Academy is built for children, so we collect only what is needed to run the program and nothing more. This page explains what we collect, how it is used, and how it is kept safe.
1. What we collect
- Account details: parent/guardian email address, for login and receipts.
- Student profile: first name, grade, and target exam — used to personalise tasks.
- Learning data: task submissions, AI feedback, scores, and progress history.
- Payment records: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.
2. How AI feedback works
Written submissions are sent to our AI provider to generate marking feedback. Submissions are screened by an automated safety check before and after AI processing to keep the experience age-appropriate. We do not use student writing to train third-party AI models.
3. Photo input
If your child takes a photo of handwritten work, the image is processed in memory to produce text and is not stored afterwards — only the resulting text is kept as part of their submission.
4. Who can see student data
Only the account holder (parent/guardian) and authorised Writing Academy staff can access a student's learning data. We never sell student data, and we do not run advertising on this site.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep learning records for as long as the account is active, so progress history remains available. You can request full account deletion at any time through your account settings; this permanently removes the student's profile and submissions.
6. Security
Data is stored with Supabase (hosted in accordance with industry security standards) and protected by row-level access rules so a student can only ever see their own data.
